Established
in 2001, we meet monthly to read and discuss new poems which offers
motivation, support and genuine group criticism.
We
are all very different writers, having great respect for each other’s
work, and are serious about promoting good quality poetry in the
community.
From
the beginning, the group’s aim was to engage new audiences,
readers, writers and publishers of poetry by providing opportunities
for poets to perform their work.
In
order to keep our writing fresh and exciting, Driftnet Poets seek out
innovative ways to inspire and motivate us, working with musicians,
artists and photographers and performing in various events and venues
throughout the area. Since August 2012, we have been Poets in
Residence at Abbey Walk Gallery, Grimsby.
Driftnet
Poets have published three anthologies: Sand
on Silk (2004), Shadows
on a Blue Lake (2007) and In
Continuum (2010). Members have
also produced individual collections.
